Hi there! Today we'll talk about a very interesting anime that was aired in 2012 . This anime is probably one of the best that was aired that year because it has "something" that makes you interested in the plot even if it advances in a very slow way. So, are you ready? Let's get started!

PLOT

If I were to tell you all the details about the plot you wouldn't enjoy it as much as I did, I mean, it's way better to discover what the anime is about with the little clues that you are given in eaech chapter. However, I can give you a little summary :
The story is set in a little town in Japan where the main character, a boy called Koichi Sakakubara goes in the first chapter due to certain circumstances that are not explained in the beggining.
On the first day of school he meets a girl called Mei Misaki , who has an eyepatch and who is a very shy person. Koichi starts to wonder who Misaki is after discovering that, apparently, he is the only one who can talk to her. From this point onwards, Koichi tries to figure out what's the matter with the town and why everyone have a gloomy expression.
If you want to read more, is under your responsability because there's some SPOILERS AHEAD:
After some research Koichi discovers that Misaki is not a phantom or a ghost: it seems that everyone chose to ignore her due to certain reasons, acting oblivious around her. This cause Koichi to confront some students who end up admitting the reason. It seems that in 1972 (The anime is set on 1998) , a girl called Misaki suddenly died. Her friends(And even the teacher) decided to ignore this fact .This led them to pretend talking to her and things like that. The mistery comes when they realized that in their graduation photo Misaki was there......Creepy! XD
I'm not going to spoil you more about the plot but as you might have guessed the Misaki of the past and the one from the present are connected somehow and in order to prevent a tragedy Koichi have to figure out how, something that will lead him to ask people about a topic they don't want to talk about.

CHARACTERS

I'm not going to talk about all the characters, only about the two main ones(Don't worry about spoilers, there's none in this section) .

Koichi Sakakibara: a 15 years old school boy that transfers to the school of the Yomiyama town in the beggining of the story.
Before starting to attend to the school he was hospitalized to to his pneumothorax, something that made him lose the first days of school and , as a consequence, to know the rules of his class.
He is a calm guy, maybe because of his disease, but the thing is that is very strange for him to loose his cool, something that makes him something likeable by his schoolmates.
He lives with his grandparents and with his aunt Reiko. This woman is the sister of  Koichi's mother, that is dead in the beggining of the story(Something that serves as a reason to move to Yomiyama for koichi).

Mei Misaki : she is a 15 years old girl that , apparently, no one seems to know. She is really shy and she doesn't really talk unless it's something unavoidable.
She has an eye that allows her to see the "color of dead" because she lost her eye when she was a child and her mother made her an artificial one.
Her mother treats her as a strange because is fixed with dolls due to an stillbirth 12 years before the beggning of the story.
There's an OVA of the anime, called chapter 0, where we discover more info about Mei and about her cousin, Misaki.

ANIMATION AND OST

I think I haven't said yet but this anime is gore. Someone dies in an awful way in almost every chapter so you can expect a lot of blood and violence. Everything is gloomy, dark...you can guess that something bad is about to happen XD.
If we talk about the OST I think that is quite good: the opening is good and helps to create tension to watch the chapter(every song intend to do that XD). There's a lot of "psycho-like" songs after all.

TO SUM UP

I liked the anime. I'm not into horror but I guess this is and exception. It reminded me of Shiki , specially in the gloomy tone;however, this is not the same story and uses a different storyteller structure.
This anime is adapted from a novel(There's a manga to) , something that may be the key of its deep plot . The author have plans for a sequel but in my opinion (at least the anime) closes in very neat way so I don't really see a need for a sequel.
