Hello there. Today we'll talk about a book trilogy by the name of "The pathfinder". This trilogy was written by Orson Scott Card, the guy who wrote Ender's game and it sequels(among several other science fiction works). The structures of this review will consist in a small paragraph containing the official synopsis of each book (In italic caligraphy) and my impressions below. Beware of spoilers in the impressions because it's highly complicated to talk about this story without revealing spoilers , as I'll explain later. Let's go with Pathfinder!

Beware of spoilers in the impressions because it's highly complicated to talk about this story without revealing spoilers , as I'll explain later. Let's go with Pathfinder!
A powerful secret. A dangerous path.
Rigg is well trained at keeping secrets. Only his father knows the truth about Rigg's strange talent for seeing the paths of people's pasts. But when his father dies, Rigg is stunned to learn just how many secrets Father had kept from him--secrets about Rigg's own past, his identity, and his destiny. And when Rigg discovers that he has the power not only to see the past, but also to change it, his future suddenly becomes anything but certain.
Rigg’s birthright sets him on a path that leaves him caught between two factions, one that wants him crowned and one that wants him dead. He will be forced to question everything he thinks he knows, choose who to trust, and push the limits of his talent…or forfeit control of his destiny.
This book is a great start for the series. The story is set on a kind of medieval setting, which is quite odd for this author, and we are expectators to the trip that the two main protagonists, Rigg and Umbo, make in order to uncover the secrets that Rigg's father had. At the same time, every one or two chapters there's also an alternate narration where we are told the story of Ram Odin, a spaceship pilot who is headed to a planet called Garden , which is supposed to be one where life itself is possible. It is clear since the beggining that both stories have to be related somehow but that fact does not make the final revelation less surprising.
The boys, as well as other characters from the story have some kind of superpowers. Rigg is a pathfinder, which means that he can see the paths that inanimate objects or life forms leave through time and space. Also, with Unbo's help, he can travel back to the moment where those paths are happening. The interesting part about these abilities is that they are quite unusual : it's not uncommon to use time travel in novels of this genre but this approach feels fresh and it helps to form the idea that even though they have superpowers they are not invincible.
The final revelation of the book, obviously, this is a huge SPOILER, is that Riggs planet turns out to be the Garden Ram Odin was talking about, and know the weird stuff that takes the entire trilogy to explain comes in. It seems that Ram Odin's spaceship and its contents passed through a black hole (Somebody said Interstellar? XD) and split itseld in thirteen copies, so in the end we have thirteen ships and thirteen Ram Odin, plus all the other people and things on the ship. They decide do make an impact with all the ships in Garden surface, exterminating all of the native life and substituing it with humans. Therefore, they establish thirteen colonies or wallfold, each one led by a copy of Ram Odin .
If the previous paragraph was not weird enough, then there's the whole businness of Ram Odin having human like robots, one of them turning to be Riggs not-so-dead father. Also, they seem to be bad beings as they manipulate humans and , on orders on Ram Odin, prevent people from different wallfolds to interact with each other via something called "The wall", a special structure that separates wallfolds and imposilitates them to cross as it emits brain waves that makes them go nuts as they go nearer the wall. Also, the structure is ready to give the people whi cross it the ability to speak every language of the planet , to help with communication when one wallfold becomes technologically advanced(Turns out that Rigg and company cheated since they travelled to the past to cross the walls XD).
Let's go with Ruins.
When Rigg and his friends crossed the Wall between the only world they knew and a world they could not imagine, he hoped he was leading them to safety. But the dangers in this new wallfold are more difficult to see. Rigg, Umbo, and Param know that they cannot trust the expendable, Vadesh — a machine shaped like a human, created to deceive — but they are no longer certain that they can even trust one another. But they will have little choice. Because although Rigg can decipher the paths of the past, he can’t yet see the horror that lies ahead: A destructive force with deadly intentions is hurtling toward Garden. If Rigg, Umbo, and Param can’t work together to alter the past, there will be no future.
The main problem with this book is that in more than 500 pages, there's not even a hundred of story. How is that even possible you ask? Well, most of the book happens revolves around a concept: retorica . And don't get me wrong, I like good thinking but in this case it kinda got in the way of the story and ended up being a text about what the author thinks of several things instead of focusing on the story. They learn about "The Destroyers", the people that destroy Garden, pretty early in the book and even after hundreds of pages of the book filled with reasoning they can not find a way to stop it from happening in a ham fisted attempt of delaying the advancement of the plot long enough to be able to write a third book.
Also there's some super intelligent mice that can sen objects through times and even modify genetically several dna sequences, send them through time and insert them into Umbo, who seems to be like some kind of awesome dude. I'm sorry, but as villains(Their plan was to overpopulate the world) mice just don't appeal to me.
Finally, let's talk about Visitors.
From the internationally bestselling author of Ender’s Gamecomes the riveting finale to the story of Rigg, a teenager who possesses a secret talent that allows him to see the paths of people’s pasts.
In Pathfinder, Rigg joined forces with another teen with special talents on a quest to find Rigg’s sister and discover the true depth and significance of their powers. Then Rigg’s story continued in Ruinsas he was tasked to decipher the paths of the past before the arrival of a destructive force with deadly intentions. Now, in Visitors, Rigg’s journey comes to an epic and explosive conclusion as everything that has been building up finally comes to pass, and Rigg is forced to put his powers to the test in order to save his world and end the war once and for all.

After reading Ruins I did not have high expectations for this one, and although it's better than Ruins in some aspects, it definitely isn't as good as it should be.
One of the positive points is that answers are given to most questions that arose during the previous installments and were oddly delayed. Better late than never I guess. Also, there's a good ending and the characters live happily ever after. However , apart from that...it's a mess. Most of the book is a filler that divides itself between dialogs without emotion or sense and physics explanations of things that I did not really need to know(I mean, I would have opted for a more 'It magically works approach' XD). Also, there's the things that the characters , specially facemask Rigg and its counterpart, who in this book , to defeat the menace, which turns to be a group of insect like aliens that can drop atomic bombs, simply go their planet a long time in the past and preventing from reaching a certain technological level. No battle , no conflict, no nothing! And don't get me started in the whole time they pass on Earth...what a filler! The only part, story wise, that could be labeled as interesting is the rebel fight agains the Queen, and there's not much space dedicated to thah.

Hello there! Today we we'll talk abouth the fifth installment of the Lorien Legacies main series. Last time the previous book wasn't all that bad and had an interesting ending, so did this one follow up?
Here is the official synopsis
The worst was supposed to be over. We were reunited after a decade apart. We were discovering the truth of our past. We were training and getting stronger every day. We were even happy...
We never imagined the Mogodorians could turn one of our own against us. We were fools for trusting Five. And now Eight is lost forever. I would do anything to bring him back, but that's impossible. Instead, I will do whatever it takes to destroy every last one of them.
I've spent my entire life hiding from them, and they've stolen everything away from me. But that stops now. We're going to take the battle to them. We have a new ally who knows their weaknesses. And I finally have the power to fight back.
The story continues where the last book left , with the garde devastated by the lost of number 8, the cool guy XD. Also, there's the thing of that fine young lady, which was supposed to be something like a garde and lived with number 7 in Spain, is a prisioner of Setrakus-ra. So basically we alternate between those two scenarios, watching as the girl tries to escape and as the other garde reunites themselves and decides to investigate a certain lead on an ancient loric temple, all of this while bringing number 8 body along. This whole bussiness ends up in a kind of unexpected move(SPOILER BEGIN) when the garde releases an insane amount of energy into the Earth giving everyone on the planet legacies so they could stop the invasion of the Mogadorians due to a failure in a pacific solution(LOL). Also, Ella turns out to be Setrakus-ka grandaughter . Also number 5 is a good guy now XD (SPOILER END)
This book had some interesting plot lines going on revolving the whole unwraping of Setrakus plan but failed miserably to deliver a plausible explanation about how a bunch of teens are going to defend an entire planet by giving a cheap explanation of the kind 'suddenly, everyone was freaking awesome ' XD

Hi there folks! Today I bring you a book review of a popular book trilogy that has been pretty famous recently due to a film adaptation about it. I'm not going to make a summary of the books(I'll paste here short summaries without spoilers of each book from wikipedia) because you can read those anywhere. Instead , I will talk from my point of view about how good the books were or what things I disliked.
The part in italic will contain the summary written in the back of the books. After each summary a brief opinion will be stated, so beware of spoilers in that part.
Let us begin with the summary of "The maze runner"
Sixteen year old Thomas wakes up with no memory in the middle of a maze and realizes he must work with the community in which he finds himslef if he is to escape.
Okay, to begin with this book, I have to say that it has a really slow start. For about a hundred of pages Thomas does pretty much nothing: running around, asking questions but not getting answers...You could probably read the first couple of chapters , then jump a hundred pages forward and you'd still understand most stuff.
On another note, the book has an interesting premise but a not so good development. Teen girls/boys may probably love the good but to be honest it's not really good. The characters are dull and plain and the supposed main character, Thomas, does have zero charisma. Newt and Minho, secondary characters, are way more interesting: at least they do stuff.Even, Chuck, who dies while saving Thomas , is more interesting. The kid was really annoying sometimes but at least he was brave, even if his death was pretty much pointless for the future, as stated in the following books.
Another problem with this book is the way the author wants to solve a question asked earlier in the book: there's not an explation. The boys come up with ideas randomly when author thinks it's a good time to do so and if they can't they pretty much cheat(As seen when Thomas goes through the "Changing").
The books has an open ending that, if you were reading paying at least a bit of attention, you could see from miles away: he first book was just the first trial, there will be others.
As a conclusion, I didn't like the book a lot: it was slow paced, plain and boring in some parts.
Now let's go with The Scorch trials
After surviving horrific conditions in the Maze, Thomas is entrapped , along with nineteen other boys, in a scientific experiement designed to observe their responsesand gather data believed to be essential for the survival of the human race.
I have to say something about this book: after reading the first one, I didn't expect anything good about this one but it wasn't as bad as I had imagined.
Brenda and Jorge are cool characters although it was pretty obvious that they were on WICKED side(even though they were the good guys later on). Moreover, Thomas finally does something! Although that bravery doesn't last long and he ends up confined(I mean, what's up with the guy? Counting the number of times he almost died or ended confined in some place due to a kidnapping, shouldn't he be dead already?)
A good point about this book(Yay, there's good stuff to!) is that we finally see a good turn with the fact that Newt is not inmune to the Flare. That was interesting. However, there's a new character called Aris that is pretty much the most useless character of the trilogy. The guy only talks , roughly, a book page of sentences in the whole book and altough is supposed to be important it falls into oblivion during much of the plot until suddenly it reappears with...Teresa. Yes, the girl didn't die or anything, I haven't talked about her till now because...she doesn't appear! She is supposed to be controlled by WICKED and Thomas develops a grudge against her in this book.
Ah, and like in the first book, really long prologue(I mean, why did the whole "guards hanging from the ceiling" event happen?)
And finally let's talk about The Death Cure
As the third Trial draws close, Thomas and some of his cohorts manage to escape from WICKED , their memories having been restored, only to face new dangers as WICKED claims to be trying to protect the human race from the deadly flare virus.
This is the ending of the trilogy. Most questions had already been answered one way or another so his book was supposed to explain the remaining details. The thing is that it takes some things for granted about the whole Flare thing that didn't really explain previously and states some questions that you hope will find an answer for in the book but you don't.
Thomas is supposed to be assasin in this book because he kills some people , but the guy didn't have the guts to kill Newt whe he was past gone(he did it by accident) . He is a really lame main character, and in this book it's even more clear as he is kidnapped several times because he is stupid enough to stay put when a bounty hunter enters the place where is (Even though his pals were already out of the place).
Teresa dies in a way that the author tries to make dramatic and heroic but to me it looks as if the author was thinking "well, Thomas is paired with Brenda now and Teresa didn't really do anything worthy in this book, so I'm gonna kill her to avoid a threesome". Not good man, not good.
The book has a supposed happy ending where the remaining alive characters live in a place where there's still nature. I love how they just feel oblivious about how is that even possible, the fact that that could be another trial because the chiefwoman from wicked put them there of the fact that Brenda looks as if she knew something. But whatever, the thing is that the book has a happy ending.
There's a prequel that tells the story of the beginning of the Flare and stuff like that but I'm not going to read it. Enough of this saga to me.

Hi there dear fellows! Today I'm going to talk a bit about another book of the Lorien legacies series: The fall of five. The title is kind of a huge spoiler itself but that's something to be expected if you read something aimed for teens. Let's talk about the plot(SPOILERS AHEAD)
The book starts where the last one ended: Sam is a prisioner in a Mogadorian installation and the other Numbers have finally asembled and are ready for action. The situation changes really quickly because with Sam's dad help and a Mogadorian rebel, Sam is able to escape and all the family finally reunites together after a few pages.
After that comes a whole load of pages full of slice of life situations that are as boring as they could ever dream to be XD .
There's a new character, number five, who doesn't really fit in the plot and we see why in the latter pages: he's a traitor, something to be expected since the beginning(I mean, look at the title !).That fact is not the only obvious one: Sam's dad was a character with a beginning and an end brought to the story to make a point about honesty and justice.
Oddly , the best part of the book is the ending as there's some hints concerning the true identity of the extra Number and there's some tragic deaths that are kind of unexpected and come as a truly surprise.
Moreover, the situation is finally interesting as they are separated again and have to fight seriously.
And that was pretty much it. This book seemed like a prequel to a bigger event more than an actual event , but it had its moments, I guess. The good news is that the next one seems really promising.
